The Beauty In Broken

Death By Gaslight

When broken is different

than the broken before.

And you just can’t find happy

you don’t smile anymore.

You feel you’ve lost all the pieces

of who you once were before.

All but given up

a mangled mess on the floor.

___

When struggling becomes normal

you cry more than you laugh.

When surrender comes easy

submerged in aftermath.

When the wounds become trophies

and you give up the fight.

When your choices no longer define wrong or right.

When you question your sanity

and take all the blame.

When you quit trying to be right

or win at this game.

When the voices that cheered you

have faded away.

And no one is listening

to the words you can’t say.

All alone in a world

that once promised beauty and life.

Now shadows consume and envelope the light.

Alone and afraid, thoughts may seem paranoid

you’re left desperately looking to fill up the void.

That is devouring your soul

and your will to go on.

You just want to be happy

feel like you belong.

But to ask is too much

you refuse to seem weak.

Though to others it’s obvious

by the way that you speak.

Guarded and afraid

guilty of needing help.

You feel like a failure,

if you can’t help yourself.

So in silence you suffer

till the ultimate end.

Death to the lonely

without any friends.
