Literary Roots
When Passion Reignites

Charcoal sky
tangled branches cry
like dangled danger statements
drip...dripping on pavement
as raindrops crackle in my ears
eyes heavy, yet I steer
steady, round the bordered bend
bringing me to a place I've been
when, just then, clouds bloomed
thus giving room
to brighten
this heightened & enlightened sight
meant to reignite this fight
so years leap like light
to the past
peeking at present me
comparatively a tree
tall and strong
on the route
leading back to thy literary roots

PS-This poem is basically about how I wrote poetry a lot as a kid but then stopped for a long time. Now, I feel like I am going "back to those literary roots." As I was driving in the rain one day, I started thinking about this and making a poem in my head about my surroundings. Then the sun and clouds came out.

Dear Lora - I'm so glad I've just discovered your fabulous writings. But, sorry you haven't been in the VillageBucket for months after writing so many at once. I'm just an old fashion story teller/cartoonist and post once a month, if that. I've subscribed with pleasure in hopes that you share more with us. Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, California Vocal Author
