The news came as a loud shot in the dark,
Unexpected and undesirable,
A day of light was now full of shadow,
Though the sun still shone outside the window.
My vision was dark and my heart was cracked,
I spent the hours joyless and broken,
Wondering how life will improve again,
When the shadows threaten to consume me.
Then a peal of bells broke through my shadow,
Sending a ray of light down upon me,
Enveloping me in its warm embrace,
Healing my heart and fixing my vision.
I searched and smiled when I found the bells,
As the baby laughed in joy once again.
