Life in the Darkest of Night

Sometimes, life emerges on dark, lonely nights.

In the darkest of nights,

when nothing stirs,

and the sound of silence

is a deafening roar.

The street lights cast

on the suburban streets a glow of

soft orange

while the ones in the homes

that line the street

Are barren and dim.

***

It is in this time

A man stares out the window

at the world that died

for the night.

His mind runs crazy,

screaming and hollering,

as all his senses bang

against the skull.

***

Within his head, a world of wonder

sprouts from deep corners

of his gray matter.

He sits alone,

jotting these crazy thoughts

under a reading light on a

well-used notebook.

***

He captures the crazy worlds

that come forth.

And for that one moment

He feels alive

even as the world outside sleeps

and is unaware of the brilliant

world within.
