LIFE:

Turns on a dime....Makes it demands

And waits for no one....

It entices the young to chase an illusion

Demands the dare devils to push it's limits and lures lovers to leap

All the while smiling, making promises it never intended to keep

None of us are safe from its wiles

And none of us will ever be able to duplicate the thrill and passion it sells

Dressing it up, until we crave it like a drug

It calls to us like a vision, a genie in a bottle, and we fall helplessly, head-first, without a net

We follow like sheep into the future it displays.

Bright eyed and determined, we surrender our cards

Risking it all for our chance. Our moment in the sun

And although some of us rise to the top, it is a roller coaster ride, at best.

We have all felt the sun on our faces at the peak of our game, only to be toppled. Left sitting in heaps, wondering what happened, and if we will ever experience it again. That high that keeps us holding on

But the hard truth is, this is her game and life will always strive to be the victor

Always convincing us to be her pawns

So, we evolve and move on....

Usually colder, harder and a little less human than before

Callous to the fragility of the human spirit and numb to the suffering around us

We see others as obstacles or ladders and forget what the pain felt like.

But... we can be better...we can alter the course and claim the prize
