LIFE BEYOND GLOOM

Lockdown's Cold Cocoon

I dreamed the world had tumbled down,

Blood seeping slowly down my face

Upon my head, a broken crown,

My years of tears are lost in space

*

I'd dealt myself a deadly blow,

My search for joy seems bittersweet

The moon's glow guides my inky flow,

My verses whisper at your feet

*

I felt your pain moan o'er the sea,

Numbed in mourning's cold embrace

I called your name upon a breeze,

And wept for words we can't replace

*

Beware the seeds your words may sow,

Infecting minds as devils creep

If deeds define our inner growth,

I must concede, my conscience bleeds...

*

Rejection breeds resentful beasts,

Their talons sharpened by contempt

Death brings the selfish to their knees,

Inflamed by blame and discontent

*

Beyond dark days and world dismay,

I'll burst from lockdown's cold cocoon

As blooms of hope rise from decay,

I'll write of LIFE, beyond the gloom...

*
