Let the Healing Begin

David was no saint. In fact, his sins were criminal by today's laws. But his faith in God was extraordinary and he was set apart by God to become king long before he defeated Goliath as a teenager. It is from David's line that Christ Jesus is descended.
King David was also the chief musician and the book of Psalms ( Songs) has many psalms by David, although some are attributed to others. Psalm 6 is a plea by David to God to save him from his enemies, and he plays the 8 string harp to this Psalm.
We are all heard and seen by God. He gave us a unique nervous system to enable us to have a unique relationship with Him, and He can make the impossible possible. The Book of Psalms is a beautiful and sometimes heart- wrenching rendering of the humanity of us. Our fears, our faith, our tears, our wrongs, our hopes, our prayers. But mostly our human weaknesses and how we are not perfect- and yet we are, each and every one, chosen.
In this Psalm, David is crying out to our God "please don't rebuke me or punish me but protect me from my enemies. " He sings of greatly weeping at night. King David may have been a ruler, but he was afraid of his enemies hunting him down and killing him. So he did what he knew to do. He lifted prayer in song to the King of Kings. And he was delivered time and time again. Because he trusted in the God that he knew was working on his behalf. He was the same God then as He is now, and He's the same God that spoke to Moses and later singled David out to be king.
In a world where we can be anything we want to be, be a David. Be ferocious in faith and heartfelt in humility. Ask Him for help when you need it, because God is listening and ready to deliver you from your enemies too. If you find this song as beautiful as I do, remember that there are 150 psalms in the Bible. They are there because we were meant to read them thousands of years later, and feel the relationship between a flawed man and God and know that it's still relevant and relatable today. Your song is waiting to be lifted up towards the heavens.
Amen. Let it be so.
“O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.” Psalms 6:1-2 NKJV
“I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies.” Psalms 6:6-7 NKJV
Amen.

“Then David said to Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand..". I Samuel 17:45-46 NKJV
