Just like You

I was baptized

in the water

because You were

before me

a publicly private

declaration

that I know

who You are and

what You did

for me before

my generations

even existed

You knew everything

about me then

You wrote my

whole life

then, there

in the water

I began

a thick shell

slowly sank in

the water when

I sat up

everything not

of You

layered over years

of living in

the world

the remnants of

who I once was

Living water

etching my essence

swelling my soul

flooding the chambers

of my heart

with Your

blood

I got baptized

just like You

because

You are.
