"oh how I miss those lavender nights"

By Jeremi SamuelPublished 3 years ago 1 min read
lavender nights.

picture me under crestfallen trees,

back when we reached our peak at 17.

but now graced with wisdom and age,

we lose ourselves to the wind like leaves of sage.

picture me behind blades of grass,

when our worries were about the rain and not if we would last.

when your smile was enough to make my world glow,

because now i’m lucky if you even come home.

oh how i miss those lavender nights,

filled with their illicit whispers and dazzling heights.

oh how i miss those amber sunsets,

where in the temple of your heart i would find rest.

when you were away exploring the world, where was i?

where is the boy who would cover my scars with his cries?

what happened to the love we shared, a love so fierce?

did it harden like the dagger through which my heart was pierced?

when you reached the corners of the sky, how much of you did it take,

cause if you killed me then why are you at the wake?

oh how i miss those lavender nights!

when our kisses were as incendiary as the sun so bright!

oh how i miss those golden glistening days!

where you’d take my hand and promise we wouldn’t wash away!

but gone are the times of those lavender nights.

and gone is the way my heart would try and fight.
