Strange Truth
The following poem is entitled Strange Truth. It was inspired by the Abel Meeropol song “Strange Fruit” (written in the late 1930s) that, in a comparison to fruit hanging from trees, describes a disturbing visual of black men and women in the south who had been lynched. It’s common knowledge that it was not abnormal to kill slaves and black Americans who had potentially committed crimes, so the song is in no way exaggerating historical events.

My Poetry
I'd never thought I had the niche for poetry, let alone that I would write so many pieces throughout the year, but here I am—having surprised myself once again. I met someone in a very strange point in my life, but when isn't a strange time? Within the passion and love, I soon found heartbreak. From that point onwards, my love for self-expression grew. I found myself pouring my feelings onto paper, and wanted to share my thoughts with all of you.
