Kitchen Chronicles- Tale from the Stovetop
The Full Kitchen

Your eyes go cookoo.
When you are looking at others.
At the same time as yourself!
The subheading might have confused you, but let me assure you it is indeed a full kitchen. I am in the kitchen, my mom is in the kitchen, Grammy is in the kitchen, sister-in-law is in the kitchen, and of course, the walking cooking disaster, my younger sister, is in the kitchen. I just pray that she doesn't set the kitchen on fire.
We are all gathered cooking up a feast - it's like rush hour in the kitchen. The incoming scents are making my senses go haywire. I can see grandma making pies, sister-in-law is putting together the vanilla custard delight, mom is preparing marmalade honey-glazed chicken broast with sesame seeds and olives, and my sister is making box cookies. She can't go wrong with that, right? It's box cookies, she just has to roll them and bake them - easy enough.
Why do I feel like I just jinxed it? Bad thoughts! Bad thoughts! Back to work. We were almost done, except for the cookies still baking in the oven. Gathering the dishes, we brought them to the dining table. Now, only one chore is left - cleaning the kitchen. Looking at each other, we came to a unanimous decision.
The guys are on cleaning duty. We are not wrong - don't judge; they should not be allowed to laze around while we work. So here we are, couch-napping by the fire. A ding-ding alerted us that the cookies were done. Thankfully, it was a disaster-free experience.
Spoke too soon; my sister came back holding the baking tray - it did not look like a cookie. Placing it on the table, she used a spatula to try to get it out, but it stuck to the spatula. It had the texture of taffy.
Trying to save some face, my sister made an idiotic decision to give it a try. The way her face scrunched up told us everything we needed to know. The spatula, the baking tray, and the abominable creation now lay in the trash can outside.
Now, as we sat here enjoying the meal, my brother made a casual remark - younger sister should stay away from the kitchen. Laughing at the face she made just made our day.

Did the nickname "the walking cooking disaster" for your sister come before this day, or was this the moment where she earned that nickname? 😂 Loved this funny little kitchen story. Your family cooking together, regardless of disaster, is so sweet!
