Just Someone to Hold
I do not ask for burning fire
or nights consumed with sharp desire
I do not need a lover’s game
to chase a thrill, to fan a flame
What I would keep is something small
a quiet hand to catch my fall
a body close, a steady arm
to hold me safe, to keep me warm
No silken lies, no lustful part
just comfort written in the heart
the simple grace of being near
a soul to soothe, a voice to hear
I’ve had the rush, the passion’s call
I’ve felt the rise, I’ve faced the fall
yet now my spirit longs instead
for gentle words beside my bed
So let the world keep chasing more
I’ll guard the peace that I adore
no lover wild, no burning flame
just arms that hold me all the same.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

That seems to be the common goal we're all striving for. Well done.
This is so beautiful in its simplicity.
That I think is what we all want isn't it. Good job.
