Just Say C’est La Vie

A poem and a Sonny and Cher song

By Rasma RaistersPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

When life doesn’t,

present you with roses,

when dark clouds roll over the sky,

just say c’est la vie.

There’s nothing we can do,

life wasn’t meant to be,

sugar coated

or full of cream.

All rose gardens,

growing in beauty,

sweet perfume,

on the summer breeze,

are still full of thorns,

that can prick you and make you bleed.

When there are days,

that the rains won’t go away

and you swear you won’t make it another day -

just say c’est la vie.

Life will roll on,

whether you can keep up or not,

just remember all the love you’ve got.

Wouldn’t it be great?

If life could be wonderful all the time,

if everything could fall into place

and we could just sail along,

simply singing a song.

But life doesn’t give us,

any real promises,

we have to take,

the good with the bad

and say c’est la vie.

Enjoy what you’ve been given,

when your family,

suddenly seems so strange,

when your friends,

seem to want,

more from you than you can give -

just say c’est la vie.

Life was meant for living

and taking and giving.

Life was meant for loving,

sometimes the dice don’t roll right,

sometimes it’s more uphill

and laughter seems far away.

But hey, there’s still a lot ahead

and the good times,

will come back again -

just say c’est la vie!
