Just Roll Me Away

A poem and a song by Bob Seeger

By Rasma RaistersPublished 11 months ago Updated 18 days ago 1 min read

The memories are like yesterday,

of the springs we shared,

though the landscape has changed for me -

in my mind I'm where I used to be.

As tears again threaten,

just roll me away.

*

All those blooming springs,

country roads danced upon,

memories so clear -

yet many springs have tumbled by.

How long must the heart wait,

to be released from longing -

just roll me away.

*

Give me some peace,

for just a day,

Yet another spring comes breezing in.

I wish I could fly,

upon the southern breezes,

up to the sky, just to say hi.

I must drift,

get some peace of mind,

find the old songs to play,

as the years parade by -

just roll me away.
