Life After Happily Ever After The Little Mermaid

Short poetic stories inspired by Disney

By Rasma RaistersPublished 12 months ago 6 min read

Disney has given everyone especially children great joy with their animated movies. However, my curious writer’s mind always wanted to know – Did everyone really live happily ever after? I have written some poetic stories inspired by Disney animated films about what could have happened if the story had continued. The one I wrote about Snow White “The Return of the Evil Queen” I entered in a challenge so the link is given below. The links to the other stories I have written are also posted below.

Ursula’s Revenge

Like in a castle of dreams Ariel now lived

Everything was like a new adventure to her each day

Eric had made her a garden

Where she loved to daydream

The villagers were in awe

Of the lovely mermaid princess

Who’d married their Prince

And come to the surface to live

Two twin daughters they now had

Named after Ariel’s favorite flowers

Rose and Daisy so very lovely

Eric’s pride and joy

They lived a life to be treasured

Picnics on their private beach

Sailing on their yacht

On the sparkling sea

There was an island

Not far from the castle

Upon which Ariel could meet

With father King Triton and her sisters

Ariel’s sisters all married to mermen

Living under the sea

Her friends came round to visit

Flounder and Sebastian were never far

Oh, how Rose and Daisy

Adored Scuttle that silly seagull

Equally fond they were of Flounder

But Sebastian though a dear a tad bit of a stiff

So upon this one day

Sailing upon the sea

Ariel felt certain unease

Something that wasn’t quite as it should be

She urged Scuttle to scout about

And Flounder and Sebastian

To see what was afoot

Under the sea

That day the water

It seemed to churn and burn

The waves tempest tossed

The water as black as ink

Far, far down beneath

At the bottom of the sea

The sea witch’s old cave

Was renewing itself

Unnoticed by anyone

The sea bed upon which it sat

Began to shimmer

The sands rippling

Then all of a sudden

A puff of smoke

A whirlpool of swirling water

And up, up she rose

Up almost to the surface

Ursula resurrected arose

Twice as large

With tentacles so huge

Ursula landed upon the seabed

In front of her cave

In all her horrid glory

An evil smile upon her face

This time she was ready

Yes, this time she’d have it all

What once she had lost

She’d regain tenfold

Up above Ariel fretted and worried

Rose and Daisy scampered about the yacht

While Eric stared out toward the horizon

The yacht began to wildly rock

It was mayhem

The sky grew black

Thunder roared and lightning bolts rained down

Ariel screamed for her daughters

Out of the sea

Quite high into the air

Up rose Ursula in all her evil splendor

She twirled about twice

Eric came rushing forth

A harpoon he held aloft

But Ursula just shook in laughter

Her tentacles came crashing down upon the yacht

Ariel looked about in terror

The yacht was swaying and swinging

Eric tried to reach her

As Ursula churned the sea faster and faster

The yacht spun about

A fog surrounded them

Then just as suddenly

It was all over

Ariel and Eric stunned gazed about

Only in time to see

Rose and Daisy

In Ursula’s tentacles disappearing into the sea

So stunned were they

Sebastian swam to get King Triton

Flounder to gather other sea creatures

They had to get to Ursula

Now when King Triton

Got the news

He was terribly angry indeed

His granddaughters had been kidnapped

But there was something that Ursula didn’t know

King Triton headed to seek the help of the Sea Hag

Now the Sea Hag had been banished to another sea

By Ursula and was an enemy indeed

She was the one that the sea folk

Came to see for help and love potions

She was the one that advised King Triton

And his family

As soon as the Sea Hag

Heard from King Triton

They started to plan

To be rid of Ursula once and for all

In Ursula’s cave

Rose and Daisy had been turned into mermaids

The little girls not sensing any danger

Were merrily playing with seahorses

It was Sebastian that summoned Ariel and Eric

And they headed the yacht to the island

There King Triton greeted them

Informing them of his collaboration with the Sea Hag

So while Ariel and Eric

Remained above to await the news

King Triton headed back down into the depths

He had a date with Ursula a date to the death

An army of mermen had been summoned

And war had been declared

King Triton and the Sea Hag

With the army behind them headed out to Ursula’s cave

Ursula wasn’t about to lose this time

She was quite prepared

If any merman would come upon her seabed

They’d become seaweeds right away

As King Triton and the Sea Hag

Confronted Ursula

Around fifty mermen had already succumbed

Unhappy seaweed all around

A wicked fight broke out

King Triton holding off Ursula with his trident

While the Sea Hag

Went lightning zap for zap

In the midst of all of this turmoil

Rose and Daisy became quite frightened

The now little mermaids

Hand in hand swam away from the cave

Sensing danger and being afraid himself

Flounder tried to follow close behind them

But Flounder to his horror saw

The little mermaids disappearing into the dark waters

Now the dark waters under the sea

Was the place where sharks were abundant

Where the sea creatures of the deep

Dared not even venture

Flounder swan harder than ever before

He summoned Sebastian

And together they raced

To try to find the little mermaids

Meanwhile King Triton held up his mighty trident

The Sea Hag held up her magical wand

Together the rays spread out and about

Ursula gave out a loud shout

A flash of lightning

A terrific clap of thunder

Water all about churned and swirled

An explosion was heard

Ursula rose up to her full height and more

Then she quivered and shivered

And then exploded in a violent flash of light

As pieces fell to the ground

King Triton and the Sea Hag

Quickly swan out of the cave

The sea bed was all shaking

And then what was left of Ursula disappeared with the cave

It was at that moment

That Sebastian and Flounder

Came to give him the devastating news

His granddaughters were lost in the dark waters

King Triton rose up to inform

Ariel and Eric of their daughters’ fate

He vowed he’d find them

Getting all the merfolk to help

Ariel would hear no refusal

King Triton made her a mermaid again

She was determined to find her daughters

As she swam down deep under the sea

Meanwhile Eric got Grimsby

To get his diving gear

He was not going to stand aside

He was going to help his wife and daughters

Ariel was a bit frightened

Sure most all the merfolk were nearby

But she remembered her childhood

And the run in with a shark she once had

Then suddenly there was Eric beside her

When a huge shark appeared

Rose and Daisy were swimming with all their might

And reached Ariel just in time

The shark was so angry

Teeth gnashing he bore down on Eric

There was a terrible swirl of water

And they both disappeared into a sea cave

Ariel was horrified

Sebastian and Flounder

Being nearby

Took the little mermaids up to the surface

It was there that King Triton

Found them with the grim news

That Ariel was still below

That the shark had Eric

Knowing his granddaughters

Were enjoying being mermaids

Just for awhile longer

He left them to play with their guardians

It was just within the dark waters

That King Triton found his daughter

Sitting upon a rock crying

While all the merfolk were preparing to swarm the cave

It was he King Triton himself

Who entered that cave

Zapped the shark

And saved his son-in-law

It was the first time

That the villagers and the merfolk

Celebrated together

Both on land and in the sea

At night fireworks

Lit up the castle and the village

And from then on

King Triton gave his granddaughters

The pleasure to be mermaids now and then
