Is the Healthcare System Collapsing
In The United States

The healthcare system in the United States is widely considered to be broken or flawed, characterized by extremely high costs, uneven access and quality, significant health disparities, and an overwhelming emphasis on illness care rather than preventive health.
The United States spends more on healthcare per person than any other high-income nation but performs poorly in overall health outcomes, such as life expectancy, and materal mortality rates.
High Costs
The US spends a substantial portion of its GDP, on healthcare, with cost for services being much highter than in other comparable countries. leading to medical debt and difficulty affording care for many Americans.
Uneven Access and Coverage
Access to care if often tied to employment and income, leaving a significant portion of the population, uninsured or underinsured. Racial and socioeconomic factors create significant disparities in access and quality.
Poor Health Outcomes
Despite high spending, the US lags behind other high-income nations in key health indicators like life expectancy, maternal mortality, and certain patient safety measures.
Focus on Illness, Not Wellness
The system is heavily weighted toward treating acute illnesseses and specialize procedures rather than investing in preventive care and wellness.
Administrative Complexity
The high fragentive nature of the US system, with numerous providers, payors and regulations, leads to high administrative costs and makes the system difficult to navigate for both patients and providers.
Public Perception
Recent surveys show a decline in Americans confidence in the quality and affordability of healthcare in the United States.
A large portion of adults report difficulty affording healthcare costs and have postponed or skipped needed care due to price.

interesting
I am so thankful I live where there is healthcare that is affordable. Life for those with medical issues in the US can be very difficult for many.
An informative read. Unfortunately it seems that the health care system suffers in many countries including here in the UK. Thank you for highlighting these issues and keep up the good work!
Interesting and informative, thankyou for sharing xx
Well written with good detail. I think the health care system is very broken and it has become much worse in these past two months with all the shameful budget cuts to Medicare - my family is already feeling it. But the system will certainly not be fixed right now because we are in the era of billionaires first and everyone else second.
