Invoking Aphrodite

Poetry submission for Poppy's Prompts #13 Greek Mythology

Wring out your hair, emerge from the sea

Seafaring one, declining foam

Take your place on land, where you're meant to be

Free to walk, free to roam

Walk tall and proud regardless of stature

Embrace your sensuality, your sexuality

Beauty begotten in each unique feature

Unconfined by and not limited to physicality

Maiden or matron, use your artist's vision

Paint your locks golden, brown, or perhaps red

Choose your eye color without permission

Amber, green, maybe blue

It's up to you; art is not dead

Walk, recalling the song of waves

Pick up seashells

Collect myrtle and rose

Trodding barefoot within conclaves

Gather your doves, swans, and sparrows

Lover, also mother, be proud of your curves

Hanging belly and thickened thighs

Desire; prerequisite- none- self deserves

Ignore formidable stares from uncertain eyes

Aye, yes, you are a goddess

Born from the depths of the deepest waters

Here to inspire, undressing bodice

Baring beauty in all our daughters

You are the high priestess persona

Influential and almighty

Cast your light, spreading fortuna

Invoke your best

Your very best Aphrodite

My entry in Poppy's Prompts #13 Greek Mythology Edition

My entry was written for women, encouraging them to hone their inner Aphrodite.

A lack of written details regarding Aphrodite's appearance allows personal artistic interpretation. How beautiful is that?

Love this Marilyn - we should all let our inner Aphrodite shine. Good luck in the challenge.

You are a goddess, Marilyn! Beautiful poem, and love the inner strength it holds. 🥰 Great take on Poppy's prompt.

  • I wanted to say that I wanna embrace my inner Lilith, not Aphrodite. Then I realised that Lilith is from the Bible, lol. Loved your poem!

That is beautiful. As is your poem. It's crucial to build ourselves up from the inside out, rather than the other way around. Wonderfully done. 👏👏💖
