Inverse In Verse

An inverse poem is torture to write.

I cannot believe I once believed

Formal poetry is a delight.

The ticking clock and the dripping drain

Block everything out. I cannot hear

The perfect words flitting through my brain.

Perfecting meter takes too much time,

And no longer do I think that

Any idiot can make a rhyme.

Attempting this poem was a mistake.

You will never hear me saying that

Writing in verse is a piece of cake.

Writing in verse is a piece of cake.

You will never hear me saying that

Attempting this poem was a mistake.

Any idiot can make a rhyme,

And no longer do I think that

Perfecting meter takes too much time.

The perfect words flitting through my brain

Block everything out. I cannot hear

The ticking clock and the dripping drain.

Formal poetry is a delight.

I cannot believe that I once thought

An inverse poem is torture to write.
