Attitude Adjustment
Turning the Other (Butt) Cheek

Life is such a struggle when there’s little in me good
It’s hard to be a Christian, always acting as I should
It doesn’t matter how I try, my good nature’s arrested
And while I’m on my way to church my attitude is tested
I started merging to my left because my lane was ending
A dude was on my fender with a message he was sending
His message was non-verbal, but I saw his middle finger
My challenge is to see to it my anger doesn’t linger
I pulled into a drive through for a bite this Sunday morn
That same dude’s now behind me and was leaning on his horn
I told the clerk, “I’m buying his,” she said, “That’s mighty sweet”
I paid for mine and then I added his to my receipt
When he discovered what I did he showed me then his thumb
I waved to him and pulled ahead, tho feeling kinda dumb
I’m sure the dude felt awkward since he didn’t have to pay
And when I took both meals I bought, with guilt, I drove away
