Inside Looking Out

"Gaslighting is an insidious form of manipulation and psychological control. Victims of gaslighting are deliberately and systematically fed false information that leads them to question what they know to be true, often about themselves. They may end up doubting their memory, their perception, and even their sanity." - Psychology Today

apparently

i'm not visible

in the material world

and

can't be seen with the naked eye

only

in a place that doesn't exist

a world of the intangible

a where

that isn't real

in which

what is felt is not physical

chains

that are merely metaphorical

a void

with varying voices

clouds

that only cover me

and rain that only I can feel

but apparently

it's- "not real"

manifested from the imaginary

only my ears can hear

feelings

only I can feel

but apparently

aren't real

fake

made up

i'm invalidated

i'm hurt

i wish to be known

i'm not simply seeking attention

not many understand

i exist

only

underneath the mask

on the inside

looking out

i'm what was painted over

disguised

hidden

ignored

apparently

not important

enough

stuck

on the inside

looking out

i see

hurt people

hurting people

but am not seen

by this world

maybe

if it saw me

and knew me

maybe

it would be different

maybe they'd care about one another

and as for me

i'd finally be uncovered

free

from

the pile of lies i'm told

that build this mask

i'm put under

from the inside looking out

to the outside seeing in

now seen

and known

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
