In bloom

Poem

By Rosie Neale Published 5 years ago 1 min read
Art by me.

my body was a graveyard,

The only time anyone would visit was to lay lilac on my skin.

The bloom left smothered by heavy hands, leaving violet seeping in.

Un watered and unloved.

Enough was enough.

So this is where I begin,

I started planting crimsons, indigo, gold and teal,

All bathed with honey so I’d begin to feel.

I kicked and I clawed my way from the dirt, to feel sunshine on my skin and not just the earth.

The sweet air fills my lungs, I’m coming undone.

Now here I stand blooming, teal, indigo, crimson and gold,

I am so much wiser as I finally unfold.
