A Villanelle Poem:
* This poem was written during the middle of the Pandemic and my last year of college. The poem represents how I felt while in the last weeks of trying to complete assignments and the feeling of being done when the semester was over. It was crazy for a while, and then everything calmed down after I graduated. Isn't college life great?
My mind has lost its academic rush.
My mind weeps for a minute of rest.
My mind wonders to dreams, so lush.
My mind is turning to mush.
My mind thinks a slumber is best.
My mind has lost its academic rush.
My mind is an overflowing paint brush.
My mind is a band overstressed.
My mind it wonders to dreams, so lush.
I am now disoriented in the hush.
I have finished the long-lived quest.
My mind has lost its academic rush.
I feel again enveloped in the calm thrush.
My mind is on its way to find sleep in its nest.
My mind, it wonders to dreams, so lush.
Finally, all is well and blush.
Now, I remember my inner jest.
My mind has lost its academic rush.
My mind, it wonders to dreams, so lush.
