Impossible Love

When forever was never ours

We knew the end from the beginning,
It was no happy ever after,
It was written in pain; it was hurt and tears,
Yet we walked into it, regardless,
Maybe that’s what made it more thrilling,
It was delicate and worth it.

Somewhere deep down, we hoped,
We hoped that if we poured enough love,
It would be enough to break the restraints,
Make the obstacles disappear and change our fate.

We should create great memories, at least,
Hold unto hope the universe would fall in love with us,
Why should we let go of our love, so beautiful,
An imperfect match, yet we fit so perfectly,
A match made in heaven,

Why should we pass up this opportunity?
A love, true love, in its purest form,
Just because it won’t last a lifetime
Forever should take care of itself,
I’ll accept this gift called present,
Wholeheartedly with no regrets,
Because you’re in it.

Though I wonder,
What it would have been like,
If I had met you before,
Before the obstacles, now between us,
Before the one threat to our forever,

Would we be a match?
Would we have this connection?
Na, I doubt so, Probably not.
It’s the fire and ice, we experienced,
That molded us into what we are,
It’s our past that produced this beautiful version,
Yet still, this same past stands in our way.

What now?
I would rewrite our love if I could,
Make it last till eternity,
But it’s a journey for two,
I would pray to Mother Nature,
Hope she does so for two,
Because I want it and you want it too,
But you won’t fight for it.

Why, why won’t you fight for it,
Oh my haven, my king, my love,
What restrictions, restrain you?
Too many hearts involved,
Too many to be broken,
If peradventure, you venture,
It’s a path filled with thorns, too many cries.

You hope you can find this again,
What we have, with someone else,
But it is known, that it is impossible,
It is a once in a lifetime occurrence,
So you settle for a life of simplicity,
You protect their hearts and hurt yours.

I would tear down the world to be with you,
But I couldn’t, wouldn’t force myself on you,
It’s a choice you have to make,
Fortunately!, or not, You already decided.

In my next life, I’ll wait for you,
Because now I know better,
I’ll go through life but I’ll,
I’ll prevent all the obstacles,
I’ll take only the lessons.

I promise you baby,
You’ll still get this same version of me,
Only, without the obstacles,
But is there really a second life?

I wish, I could convince you to elope,
Run away with me my love,
Let’s build a new world, our world,
Where is that stubborn heart?
Defiant man, that goes for what he wants?
He’s passed that stage now,
He no longer thinks of himself alone.

We decided to hold hands instead,
And walk down this lonely path,
At these trying times in our lives,
Because I needed someone,
And you needed someone too.

If we end up holding hands forever,
That would be amazing,
But if we let go of each other’s hands,
That would be painfully amazing,
Because regardless, we wouldn’t forget,
We couldn’t forget the memories.

How it was just us against the world,
How we held each other, warmed each other,
When it was cold and scary.
How we lit each other’s fire,
And came out, strong and victorious.

We would forever be in each other’s hearts,
A love so beautiful, a strong alliance,
A love impossible, fleeting love.
It ended, almost as soon as it began.

First it was our spring, our love blossomed,
Then came summer, the heat, the obstacles and restrictions,
Yet we stood unfazed, our love constant, consistent,
Then came autumn, our love stopped blooming,
And now its winter, it’s time to let go,
This is where our love ends.

Not because it’s what I want,
Neither is it your wish,
But you chose a simple life,
And your happiness matters to me,
I’ll let you go, even though it breaks me,
I’ll preserve and cherish,
Our memories forever.

This piece is so deeply emotional and beautifully written. The way you capture the complexities of love—the joy, the pain, and the inevitable letting go—is powerful and raw. The metaphor of the seasons, from spring to winter, adds a poignant layer to the narrative, illustrating how love evolves and changes. I also love how you embrace the imperfection of love and the choices that define its course. It’s a heart-wrenching yet beautifully truthful reflection. You’ve captured the bittersweet nature of relationships so well, and the depth of feeling truly resonates. Thank you for sharing this.
