The moment I knew you, I did not know;
I did not know what I knew,
You did not have me at hello
But I did admire the view,
Your smile saturated mundane scenes
Tinting the world anew,
Kaleidoscopic red, pink, and greens
In shades I never knew.
An ardent spirit from beyond the grave
Arose in an anxious debut,
‘Twas your beauty that stirred the dormant wave;
Friendship that made it break through,
Gazing became an act of theft
When you wordlessly withdrew—
If love is blind, then looks are deaf,
For you neither acknowledged the two.
Visions of you still clench my mind
Like a lid too stiff to unscrew—
If love is patient, or even kind
Why do these eyes feel black and blue?
