I wake up

and I start picking up

the piles of the needs

and the wants

and the to dos

the this and that

of life that

nobody would notice that I do

unless I don't follow through

It gets heavy

everything that I carry

my arms and my hands

and my shoulders stacked as high as they can

while my mind

and my lists

and my eyes

and my heart are full to the brim

...overflowing

...overwhelmed

This season is as blurry as hell.

and the platitudes

smack me in the face with ingratitude

"no body said it would be easy"

I never thought I'd be

the only one batting for the team

and I can't drop the ball

I won't risk it all

Like the old adage has said

"you can sleep when you're dead"

and "there are no points for second place"

Besides - I have dreams to chase
