Illusion
A poem about the longing for a genuine connect, and the pure disappointment when it falls through.

Already you're gone
But were you ever really here
I knew it wouldn't last long
Still I ignored that fear
You tore down the walls
That I had built around my heart
Down, down they fall
And now I'm falling apart
Was any of it real?
Answer me, it's a simple question
You never told me how you feel
Not once did you mention
So what, I can read minds now?
Come on, tell me what's wrong
I really wish I knew how
To tell if it was an illusion all along
