Ignorant Wisdom

Knowing too much of the bad, none of the good

Her haunted young eyes

Seem to be too wise,

For her witness is

To the world’s worst sins.

And yet, at all once,

So ignorant

For all the pain she’s known,

She’s never felt content.

She’s a broken heart

In a torn up cast

Her body’s been broken

And made wounds that last.

Broken bones and bruises

Will heal and fade

But the scars inside

She cannot escape.

And within a broken world, a shattered mirror

That shows only misconfigured, ugly fears

And traps her in the lie: this world will be

No more than just the blood that she will bleed.

She knows no love, no trust, no faith, no hope,

And ties the noose more soundly round her throat.
