We could have worked out if you wanted to

All you had to do was try

But the truth is you just didn't care enough

I wasn't enough

Not worth it

The risk

The fall

The possible rejection

The ending you believed was inevitable

But I could never reject you

No matter how much I sometimes wanted to

It would have been so much easier

To just say "goodbye, this is the end"

No more longing

Or waiting

Or heartbreak

No more wondering

I could never tell how you really felt

What did you want?

Was it me?

Was it us?

Or is it all in my head?

This is all in your head

All the worries over all the unknowns

We could have worked out if you wanted us to

But the truth is

You didn't
