If I Have a Daughter
A poem on what I would give my daughter, that my mother never could for me.

If I have a daughter
I will teach her to be strong.
I will tell her she can take on the world
And she will always win.
She will never question her worth
Like I have done.
She will believe that she can do anything
As long as she is happy and works hard.
I will never put her down
Or make her wonder if she is loved.
She will never think
She is not the love of my life.
She will stand tall and proud,
Will never apologise for everything she does
And will never believe a boy’s love must come first.
She will be independent
And happy and proud.
And hopefully she will thank me
For all the love I have tried to give.
