In this war-torn land so cold,
My heart is filled with dread.
I miss my family so much,
I don't know how I'll go on.
My mother's tears still haunt me,
As I marched away to war.
I promised her I would come back,
But I don't know if I will.
My father's words of wisdom
Ring in my ears day and night.
He told me to be brave,
But I'm not sure I can be.
My siblings are all I have left,
And I'm afraid I'll never see them again.
I dream of the day we can be together,
But for now, I'm all alone.
I write this poem with a heavy heart,
Knowing that my family is suffering too.
I pray for peace every day,
But I don't know if it will ever come.
Until then, I will keep fighting,
For my family and for my country.
I will never give up hope,
That one day we will all be together again.
