I Saw History
A poetic tribute to September 11th 2001
I saw history. It was the end of the year. When we entered the year I had no idea it would be ending in fear.
I saw history. I woke up on a clear skied Tuesday with no idea that it would be a doomsday.
I saw history. A faceless coward on a mission to erase the towers with a belief that he was erasing power.
I saw history. I woke up and turned on the television and was greeted by a hellish vision.
I saw history. On that Tuesday morning the world watched a live execution while the nation’s leaders looked for a solution.
I saw history. A broadcasted attack. After that much death and destruction there is no going back.
I saw history. As the enemy brought terror to our turf, a dust cloud of evil covered the earth.
I saw history. In 102 minutes thousands were slain as the living watched in pain.
I saw history. It was the worst in a sense and I have an inner sense that we lost our innocence.
I saw history. It was caused by forces who really hate, yet it made me appreciate life.
I saw history. Destruction like no other, yet it taught me to have better love for my brother.
~~Dedicated to everyone who perished on September 11th 2001.
