He walked up to me with Converse of black

His loose curls the color of the sun’s rays

Sauntered confidently; said, “My name’s Jack”

Skateboard under his arm, God in the haze

.

We walked down the path, sat in the cool shade

Palms lit the way, our feet lit the smoked sand

He lit the joint, looked at me unafraid

I coyly smiled then he took my hand

.

We giggled like children caught in the act

His fingers tucked my hair behind my ear

I wondered to myself: was this abstract?

That thought disappeared, I was fully here

.

Oh my summer love, does it have to end?

Winter will never come- let’s just pretend

love poems
