I Married The Devils Son

Now he wants my last breath

I Married The Devils Son

Beneath a lot of lightning

he got down on one knee,

my inner voice was calling

he is the devil’s child, Jenny.

I ignored all those warnings

married him all in black.

I was a millionaire by 23 but then

I ran off with his cash from selling crack.

You know there’s no way to escape the devil,

his eyes always on your moves,

he chases me now in eternity.

24/7 I hear his black horses hooves.

I dye my hair in motels

burn IDs by the sink,

he finds me in mirrors

in the way shadows blink.

He smells like sulphur and leather

and something dead in the rain,

kisses me with a grin

like he never minded pain.

I once tried to drown him in bourbon

and forget him with pills,

but the devil just laughs

when a runaway thrills.

I spend diamonds on silence

gold on a second of peace.

I know when he’s always arriving

like bad news with no release.

He waits in the silence

between thunder and breath,

he won’t stop till he’s dancing

on my grave at my death.
