I’m Not Going to Ask
The Questions You Cannot Answer

18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
New International Version
I’m not going
To ask you
The questions
You cannot answer
Like are you okay?
Because I know
That’s not
A question
You can answer.
Empty platitudes
In a time of
Grief
Aren’t The
Answer either.
But when I say
I am praying for
You
and that when
You feel
Like
The world
Is closing
In on you
Know that
I mean
Every word.
I am
Not
Going
To make any
Empty promises
Like everything
Is going to be okay
Because when the
Weight of grief
Is crushing you
So hard it numbs you
Those words hold
No meaning.
But I will
Be a shoulder
When you need
A hug.

*A little over a month ago,one of my best friends lost her Mother, she reached out to me that day asking for prayers. This particular friend is no stranger to loss, but I felt the weight of that loss, And still do. *

Absolutely Beautiful Michelle. Nicely Done!!!
Beautiful ✍️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Grief is something we can only gain strength from in prayer. Absolutely beautiful Michelle. - Well done!!!
Michelle this is so beautiful. So perfectly said. Many times what we cannot say because there are no words; that is all we need. Prayer between believers is all powerful and comfort to a broken soul. Thank you for this.
Grief is relatable but prayers do give us strength. What a beautiful gesture and poem. I’m sorry to hear of your friend’s loss.
This was very beautiful, Michelle 🌹
Awww. This is so sweet. And heartbreaking. This is very relatable… we don't really know what to say to help a person in grief.
