I Knew

Before I was born

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I knew your face

Before my eyes ever saw you

You haunted my dreams through eternity

Feverishly keeping me awake at night

With the promise of true love

Compelling me to watch, wait and look for you.

I knew your face

I knew your eyes

Before I ever fell into their dark green pools

Of soul wrenching mystery

Gladly allowing myself to drown in you

Surrendering myself to the love

That possessed me and made me whole

I knew your eyes

I knew your touch

Before my hands ever felt your softness

Warmth and beauty

I knew what you would feel like

And how I would crave to hold you

And how you would melt into my love

I knew your touch

I knew the way you kissed

Before our lips ever met

With innocence, sweetness, and passion

Your kisses so warm and deep

Embracing my soul and spirit

With the promise of so much love

I knew the way you kissed

I knew the way you would love me

Before we ever laid together

Our hearts, souls and bodies

Imprinted with memories

So sacred, profound, and holy

Our human minds could not understand

I knew the way you would love me

I knew you were mine

Even before you were born

You entered my heart

With the first breath I took

And when we finally met

In flesh, blood, and bone

I knew

I knew you were the one

I’d been looking for

Waiting for

Longing for

I knew you were mine before you were born

I knew you were mine before I was born
