I just want...the uncomplicated
The simple life
I have lived a life of valiant struggles
In fortified silence I bore my burdens
and fought off the monsters, demons and devils,
who tried to block my intrepid pathway.
Undaunted, and much like Don Quixote...
I tilted at imaginary windmills seeking glory
The mountains all seemed insurmountable
I needed, prayed for help to climb aloft.
As my bloody fingers clawed, I listened
Hoping
for the voice that offered aid and friendship
Many a toilsome day, weeks,
months and years passed
And when it seemed nigh impossible
When my inner demons bade me give up
Heaven sent me angels to propel me on upwards.
Is anything worth having ever easy...
Such a question is ever asked
I could go for a bit of easy now and then
A bit of the un-complicated life
Is that too much to ask
Nevertheless...
Now here I am, the worst hopefully over (mostly)
But with the passage of time
Comes the aches and pains
Which precede our inviting of the sickled one
So, just let me enjoy the easy life
The uncomplicated and comfortable living
Hoping for many more years of delight in creativity
Sharing, caring and quietly pondering
The secrets of the universe
Residing within ourselves!
