I Have Been Her

Does a young woman ever really stop changing?

By Seda NyxPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

I have been her.

I have been the girl,

Creating her own drama.

Fueling herself solely

On envy and nicotine.

I have been the girl

Tangled in sheets,

Watching salty mascara

Stain the linen oceans

And her cheeks

I have been the girl,

So angry and caught up-

That she breaks things--

The more valuable

The better

I have been the girl

Curled over dirty porcelain

Acting like a sea cucumber;

Spilling myself

Everytime I get too stressed

I have been the girl

Who lights up valleys

With her eyes,

And places freshly plucked daisies

In other girls' hair.

I have been the girl

The stars couldn't outshine,

Perhaps on those nights,

It was the moons turn to feel envy.

I have been the girl

I hoped I'd never be.

I have been the girl

Who previously resided

Only in the dreams,

Of a littler me.

I have been the girl

I hear others put down.

I have been the girl,

Who hides her frown

I have been many girls

I will be many more.

I must remind myself

Not to be ashamed

Of all the girls I've been,

But to also not let history

Repeat itself,

Again

And again.
