I Feel a Sense of Hope
Is hope a sense?
I Feel a Sense of Hope
Cycling through days of endless tedium
to reach a mediocre fate of my own choosing,
makes me feel sleepy; weary; numb.
***
My eyes nearly closed, I hear you speak -
your timber resonates with a diminished dream.
Surely, I'm not awake.
***
Following the beaten path,
my arms outstretched in the dark,
(searching), getting through.
***
I hand over the unexpected spark.
An ember flares - keep breathing -
from the ash appears a flame.
***
I look forward now to tomorrow’s firelight -
hopeful for the stars to remind me
of the brilliance waiting in the shadows.
***
My heart dances in my chest
to a beat I barely recognize.

The ending is superb! Well done!
This is wonderful. Loved every line.
This was so good! From ash appears a flame 🔥 I love that
Those final breaths, whispers of thought, between waking & dreaming, this life & the next, as gently we row cross the river Styx.
This is so relatable and so gorgeously captured, Keila!! 😍 So many great lines in here, but I love the last two so much ❤️🥹
"My heart dances in my chest to a beat I barely recognize" what a line. Really well done :)
