-I can taste the smell of betrayal

the air between us tasted of an old grape behind the fridge, blowing condensation and false bubbles into the glass wall between us
the aftermath of burnt bread betrayal,
a pinch of crackling oil hitting wine, I cannot drink it,
I swear out the red with curses from your eyes. You tell me not to curse, exhaustion as I try to sleep with one eye open
I see you. I swallow your fading hue. A real protector, could not escape the pain of a collision with power——a dead rainbow sore, sits in the corner as we speak in tongues, once able to breathe in thoughts as one.

Whoaaaa, this is such an awesomeeee take on the sensory challenge! I loved it
An old grape behind the fridge, I love it and believe every household has one. Nicely crafted poem, Melissa!
Very nicely done. "a dead rainbow sore, sits in the corner as we speak in tongues, once able to breathe in thoughts as one." That was excellent.
Well-wrought! Adventure Time was a work of art, both in the entirety of its unfolding story and its many individual presentations. I used the claymation episode "Bad Jubies" as a modern recapitulation of Shelley's "A Defense of Poetry".
