I Can't Believe I Stayed in Your Rain
Domestic Violence Poem and Song

I can't believe that I was a witness to my own pain
I can't believe that I would think I could gain
I can't believe that I thought I could stand your rain
I can't believe I stayed in your rain
(Chorus) when it's sung
If I could have a looking glass, then I might have seen
If I could have had a crystal ball, to see what I would be
If I could have seen a shooting star
Then I might have seen what you really are
I can't believe I stayed in your rain
I can't believe loving you was such damage to my heart
I can't believe I wasn't worthy of a new start
I can't believe I didn't see me in such pain
I can't believe I stayed in your rain
(Chorus again)
This is dedicated to all of the women who have lived in abuse and finally removed themselves from it. And to all of the women who have not yet made it out. Mostly it is dedicated to those women who never found their way out.
