I Can Breathe
An ode to Autumn

When leaves burn red
And falter to the ground
They remind me that it is ok
To have once been let down
When days turn to nights
In the blink of an eye
I find comfort knowing that I'm not
Alone in the dark
When trees shed
make way for a better tomorrow
A cool breeze
Lifted from under the clutch
of August's unforgiving heat
I can breathe
Pumpkin pies
Sweet vanilla in the air
I no longer hear the ring of morning traffic
Josting me out of my sleep
Sweet molases
A morning scroll along the waterfront
The cool crisp breeze gentley pressing against my face
I can breathe
