Something new under the Sun

On a piece of parchment I am wrought,

with words of power and weight.

I am haled as a great thought,

a document of state.

My words were heard in every land,

by every sovereign nation.

My text is said to be grand.

I am quite the sensation.

Tyrants they all fear me,

by the masses I am loved.

I empower the free,

with rights from above.

The certificate of birth I am,

to a government that is new.

A system that shall always stand,

no more rule by the few.

I am the Declaration,

that tired we have grown,

of having your taxation,

and your royal highbrow tone.
