I always end up too late
In all the things I do —
When there's something I must say,
A promise I should keep,
A voice I need to call out to,
Or a soul I ought to weep —
I always end up too late.
When someone needs a helping hand,
Or comfort from their pain,
To soothe a wound that aches with time,
Or shelter from the rain —
I always end up too late.
Before death claims a gentle friend,
Before sorrow takes its shape,
To tell them truths they never knew,
Or rescue them — too late.
Yes, I always end up too late
In all I wish to do.
Theme
The Regret of Hesitation and Lost Moments
This poem explores the deep emotional cost of delaying important actions — whether it's expressing love, offering support, or speaking the truth. Munir Niazi highlights how hesitation, even when intentions are pure, often leads to missed opportunities, unfulfilled connections, and regret. It reflects on the fragility of time, and how in waiting too long, we sometimes lose the chance to make things right.

A person's life is always about waiting, waiting for the future, waiting for not being busy, waiting for the next time, waiting for having time, waiting for having conditions, waiting for having money. But later... When there is no choice left, all that comes is regret.
