How to Disappear Completely

Instructions for those brave enough to fade

By L.T. 'syreal' JonesPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

1. Ascend Spiritually

Begin by standing still until the floor forgets you.

Breathe until your breath forgets lungs.

Let the crown of your head open like a late-blooming flower

and feel the light pour in—not sunlight,

but the memory of it,

a gold that has never touched the world.

Rise on it.

Rise as smoke rises from an extinguished candle—

unhurried,

curling upward into nothing with perfect faith.

2. Make Contact with Angelic Forces

When the air becomes thin enough to taste,

call their names without speaking.

You will know the syllables already—

they’ve been embroidered in the lining of your heart

since before your first cry.

They will descend in geometry and wings,

in light that moves like music.

Do not bow—just stand,

and let your shadow stretch into theirs.

3. Barter for Passage to Heaven

Offer them something they cannot hold:

the sound of your mother calling you home,

the ache in your knuckles after writing a love letter,

the final sigh of your childhood bedroom

when you closed its door for the last time.

They will weigh these like jewels,

and you will see in their eyes the gate open—

not in front of you, but inside you.

4. Walk Out Your Door

Return to your body,

which will feel like an old coat you once adored.

Touch the handle.

Step over the threshold.

Watch as the street bends subtly upward,

as if the whole world were a ramp to somewhere else.

Walk until you vanish

into a place no map would dare remember.

About the Creator

L.T. 'syreal' Jones

I'm a poet first, but I love to write prose to explore more the topics of spirituality, mysticism and fantasy. I want to usher readers into wonderful worlds that they can't imagine, only to be inspired to imagine more.
