“How the Moon was Born”
-A Cosmic Love Story-
A poem
By C.M. Richards
Fate has existed since the start of time. And for Theia and the earth were set on a path that was perfectly aligned.
This occurred 4.5 million years ago as the forming earth of gasses and rock orbited our sun, And the ancient planet of Theia began its long journey to find the earth, to become one.
For when the universe was born, the Big Bang. The two found love, and the star’s singing began.
The earth was 90% larger in diameter than Theia, For she was only the size of Mars, 10% the mass of earth, compared to her he was mega!
The union, a spectacular collision did unite their love, In a beautiful combination of explosions of gasses and stone that filled the heavens above.
When it was all said and done, Theia was gone, she was no more, Their love burnt so bright but created something that would bring new light to the sky that had never been seen before.
A ring of stone now orbited the earth, A combination of what was Theia and rocks thrown from the earth created a new birth.
These two planets stones circled the earth and were pulled together, very fast. And our Luna Body, the moon had been created at last.
Because the energy released in its parent’s collision was able to burn this creation, And for millions of years, the moon was covered in Lava due to this combination.
It would have appeared different from what we see now, bright orange and yellows and reds, Unlike the grey, we see now hanging above our heads.
So next time you see the moon in the sky. For how the Luna body was born You don’t need to ask why. You know it was made by the strongest cosmic love in the night sky,
But it is sad that the collision with earth destroyed Thelia, She changed the father forever.
But at that moment the earth was clever and took a stone, It was her heart, there was no bone.
The stone now lies on the moon, Placed there by the earth, and not too soon.
The axis of the earth was rearranged, Giving us seasons, tides, and many things also changed.
The moon affects us all, For we are basically water after all.
Without Theia there would be no human race, And the earth would still be just a rock floating through space.
The End.
