How Many Years?

A morning poem

I am waking up at 4:00 AM to pee years old

I am working full time at 64 years old

I am setting my alarm on my phone years old

I am setting a back up time alarm just in case I sleep in years old

I’m setting the coffee maker timer before bed years old

I am hitting snoozes via my watch without looking in the morning years old

I am remembering I’m an adult and must get out of bed years old

I am putting on slippers because the floor is cold and I won’t turn up the heat years old

I am flipping my wrist to turn off the back up alarm from my watch when it goes off and pouring hot coffee on my foot years old

I am feeling every year of my life on every morning years old

  • I'm in my thirties but already feeling this 😅😅 Loved your poem!

  • It's hard to believe that there are those of us who feel even older, lol. But I feel ya, Judey! Dear God, I feel ya!

I feel the years, too, Judey. That 4 am pee hits hard every morning, also.

Happy Birthday? Amazing how we all became the same 'Years old' Nicely phrased

This was so good and so relatable - everything from the back up alarm to hitting snooze! I find I'm much better about getting up if it's bright and sunny otherwise my solar powered enthusiasm for the day is far less. Great poem.

Well writ,Judey! I'm much too young for my age.

  • Well written. Age happens to all of us . It’s what you do today to live longer.

I believe we all feel like this once in a while. Age is only a number. Good job.

  • Excellent words and though my body IS aging, I never feel old
