Horses gone Rogue - and Dogs with Agendas
When the dream screen fades to backyard gallops and freedom ends at 6:30 am!

The Darkness of Sleep and Unconscious Thought
Dreams on widescreen, unfiltered
Disturbed by rising sunbeams
And a shifting soundscape
ππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄π
Suddenlyβopen eyes
Senses on high alert
Soaking in the horseβs whinny
A horseβs whinny?
Awake and assessing
Reality!
ππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄π
My dog has no doubt
Free, happy horses neigh in the backyard
Hooves galloping across
Forbidden stretches of grass
ππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄π
Past encounters with the horsey people
Have made me a spokesman for the free horse
Scolded for helping
I pull the plug on their world
ππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄π
The wind plays tag with a flowing mane
Proud toss of a liberated head
You're welcome to enjoy my lawn
Beautiful, large, proud creatures of flight
ππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄π
But ALAS, your freedom is short-lived
A distant call, a whistling sound
Luring and threatening all at once
"Get homeβ
it's 6:30 a.m.!"
Not exactly a horse whisperer!
ππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄πππ΄π
I stretch beneath the warmth of the duvet
My dog licks my hand
Come, get up, be with me
In our shared, pent-up freedom.
