I charged, tho outnumbered, with only a knife
I fought for my brothers, no thought for my life
Forget the citations, it’s not for awards
Much less for the glory, or what it affords
There’s nothing, but nothing, that I wouldn’t give
If this would ensure, that my brothers could live
It’s not about bravery, ‘cause brave I am not
But life should mean something, and life’s all I got
It’s more about scripture, yes, words in a book
From John 15:13, please neighbor, do look
These words for the living, the message it sends
“There’s no greater love, than to die for your friends”
The ultimate sacrifice, measured in love
Is not born of evil, but higher above
I don’t seek attention, so please don’t applaud
Just pray I’m approved when I stand before God
