Honey Creek

a poem

By Dan X CatenaPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

[Honey Creek, an idyll]

I have gone to Honey Creek

To cast my line once more.

A tranquil place where cattail reeds

Grow thick along the shore.

I cuff my pants up to my knees

And wade into the water

Surrounded by some honeybees

Tending Nature's daughters.

I take in hand my fishing rod

And give a gentle throw,

Then offer up my thanks to God

For all the things that grow:

Grass and ferns and reeds and trees

And fish and birds and mice and bees

And all the things that move and live

In harmony at Honey Creek.
