Springtime / Summer Sun / Marigold

an anthology

By Dan X CatenaPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

[Springtime]

Springtime came in secret.

New life stole in quietly.

Rain fell but I stayed dry.

Lightning struck in silence.

Sky blue eggs hatched peeplessly.

Gardens bore untasted fruit

With no one there to weed.

--

[Summer Sun]

Summer sun arrives in splendor,

Everything proclaims its presence.

Car hoods shimmer, daubed with heat,

And trees put up a thousand billboards.

Bare feet burn and ice meets tea,

Even cans and bottles sweat.

Cicadas sing the days away,

And all night long the moon reflects.

--

[Marigold]

Marigold I miss your

Shining countenance. Never

Lonely by yourself,

You didn't need my

Florid gaze. You

Sang sweet orange

Harmonies to no one.
